(NASDAQ: OXGN) (XSSE: OXGN), a leading developer of biopharmaceutical compounds to treat cancer and certain ophthalmologic diseases, announced today that Dr. Richard Chin, its President and Chief Executive Officer, will present at the 4th Annual International Conference on Antiangiogenesis at the Sheraton Boston Hotel in Boston, MA. Dr. Chin will present on Tuesday, October 17, 2006 at 1:30pm ET. Dr. Chin's talk is entitled "Combretastatin and Other Vascular Disrupting Agents: The Other Half of Antiangiogenesis". To date, much attention has been focused on preventing growth of new tumor blood vessels. Ablating or disrupting already existing tumor vasculature, without affecting normal vessels, has been considered to be, in some ways, an even more desirable but difficult goal. Recent clinical data from combretastatin (CA4P) and other vascular disrupting agents (VDA's), however, suggests that this approach may lead to highly effective and potential safer therapies. In addition, recent preclinical work has demonstrated that combining vasculature disrupting agents and traditional antiangiogenic agents may result in better efficacy than either one alone. Combretastatin is one of the leading vascular disrupting agents and Oxi-4503 is a second-generation compound with both vascular disrupting and direct cytotoxic properties. For further information on the conference please refer to www.ibclifesciences.com/antiangio .
