Breski poppsöngvarinn Robbie Williams hefur keypt hlut í knattspyrnufélaginu Port Vale, sem leikur í 2. deild í ensku knattspyrnunni en félagið kemur frá bænum Stoke On Trent.

US SUMMARY: Oil Drop, Retail Sales Ignite Stocks

[Dow Jones] RTS ends +0.2% at 1367.91 after briefly touching a new all-time high intraday. Rise fueled by UES, +6.9%, which still sees large volumes following President Putin's comments on the power sector Friday. Oils down on falling prices, with Lukoil and Surgut both -0.9%. Norilsk Nickel -0.4%, as market fails to react to company publishing first-ever PGM reserve data. Local brokerage already calling '06 the year of power sector revaluation. (AJL)

[Dow Jones] Merrill Lynch ups Rolls Royce (RR.LN) to buy from neutral, raises '06 EPS to 25.6p from 25.4p and '07 to 28.5p from 28p. Notes 100% of group profits came from non-cyclical businesses and reckons the stock should be rated accordingly.

[Dow Jones] Statoil's (STO) share has significant downside potential in the long term considering its sensitivity to crude prices and its lower 06 production guidance, says Societe Generale. Keeps sell rating after 4Q report, but says strategy of diversification abroad is still fundamentally sound. Has NOK130 fair value on share, trading -3% at NOK164.50. (CAP)

[Dow Jones] Raw material head winds will cap Michelin's (12126.FR) margin expansion in '06, and the tiremaker's cost savings plan lacks a dynamic that could get the stock moving, says DrKW. In addition, negative free cash flow also disappointed as it led to a dividend payout that was lower-than-expected, analyst says. Furthermore, pricing pressure in car tires questions the ability to pass on raw materials costs to customers. Keeps stock at hold, EUR50 target price. Shares trade -5.1% at EUR51.90. (DGP)

SAS said it has decided to implement the operational transfer effective from March 1. Unions fear the move will result in job cuts.

THE INITIAL public offering market is taking on some of the frothier traits of the fin-de-siecle boom. Back then, large first-day gains by new stocks led underwriters to engage in a handful of questionable practices. Banks doled out IPOs to clients paying extra commissions and stuffed brokerage accounts of favored executives with red-hot offerings. And brokerage analysts touted their investment bank's offerings. How is it different this time?

Eftir því sem komist verður næst var Gunnar ekki ánægður með þróun mála hjá félaginu en hann hefur barist við að afla því nýs fjármagns sem reyndar hefur gengið bærilega þar sem eigið fé hefur nánast tvöfaldast eftir sölu Símans. Það bíður þess vegna nýrra manna að ávaxta það þar sem Gunnar ákvað að hætta.

US SUMMARY: Inflation Rears To Kick Stocks Lower
