DJ Fukui: JGB Undersubscription No Impact On Monetary Policy

TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Bank of Japan Governor Toshihiko Fukui said Wednesday that an undersubscription for the central bank's regular government bond-buying operations doesn't have any impact on monetary policy.

"I don't think this means anything for the central bank's policy," he said to reporters after an economic council meeting.

"This is likely a reflection of supply and demand among commercial banks," he said.

Earlier Wednesday when the BOJ conducted a regular JGB buying operation, the operation was undersubscribed for the first time in about 10 years.
