The Norwegian offshore vessels operator Eidesvik Offshore ASA said on Friday (29 September) that it has awarded Ulstein Verft AS a contract for a new subsea construction vessel.
The NOK660m order covers the construction of a large subsea inspection, maintenance, repair and construction vessel of the type SX SX121 with a Ulstein X-Bow hull. The vessel will accommodate up to 90 persons and will be equipped with a moonpool (active heave compensated offshore crane).
The vessel will be delivered in November 2008.
Eidesvik Offshore on Friday also said that it has signed a letter of intent to sell its anchor-handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels Viking Queen and Viking Troll to a new company under formation.
The combined sales price of approximately NOK175m will result in a gain of some NOK110m.
One Norwegian krone (NOK) is worth approximately 0.08 British pounds (GBP).
