Swedish telecomms solutions provider Ericsson said on Thursday (21 September) that it had been selected by the Indonesian operator PT Excelcomindo Pratama Tbk (XL) to build its 3G/WCDMA network in Indonesia.

The network will reportedly provide higher data rates and enhance the end-user experience through High-Speed Packet Access (HSPA).

Ericsson has also been chosen to supply its Mobile Softswitch Solution for nationwide deployment, as well as business consulting services.

Under the agreement Ericsson will supply radio access products and will be responsible for the performance and improvement of the radio network, as well as providing operations and maintenance services.
