Finnish airline Finnair Plc reported on Wednesday (9 November) that its total number of passengers carried had increased by 5.2% to 749,900 passengers in October 2005, as compared to the same month in 2004. The total traffic (RPKs or revenue passenger kilometres), including both scheduled and leisure traffic, increased by 6.6%, while the capacity (ASK) increased by 3.4%. As a result the passenger load factor for total traffic increased by 2.2 percentage points to 72.0% in October 2005, as compared to October 2004. The number of scheduled passengers increased by 7.5% to 612,000, while the total scheduled traffic (RPKs) increased by 12.6% and capacity (ASK) by 6.9%. As a result the passenger load factor for scheduled traffic increased by 3.5 percentage points to 68.0% in October 2005, as compared to October 2004. Finnair said that its Stockholm-based subsidiary flynordic continued to gain market share in October 2005 and carried 111,500 passengers, up 51.7%, on its Scandinavian routes. Finnair's Tallinn-based subsidiary Aero AS carried 70,600 passengers, up 524.6%, on routes between Helsinki and the Baltic capitals and within Southern Finland.
