Gouda, The Netherlands, 29 September 2006 - Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) announces that it has received - in close co-operation with Siemens Marine Solutions - an order worth more than 20 million euro for the environment friendly technical solutions in four container vessels (capacity: 5300 containers each) for German ship owner Hermann Buss GmbH & Cie.
HDW-Hagenuk Schiffstechnik (HST), part of Imtech Marine & Offshore, has received the order. Imtech will be responsible for the electrical engineering and will deliver and commissioning all equipment for the electric and electronic disciplines. The package will include the medium and low voltage switchgear and a unique environment friendly combination of a shaft generator and booster motor that will optimise the fuel consumption of the vessel, and therefore minimise CO2 emissions. Siemens Marine Solutions will supply this so-called 'power take in - power take off' system. Also included in the scope of supply are all consoles, the complete communication and navigation equipment, the alarm and monitoring system and all transformers and distribution panels. Finally Imtech will be responsible for the IT infrastructure on board of the vessels.
Hermann Buss and Imtech also agreed an option for two additional vessels. This option represents a value of more than 10 million euro.
Chinese Yard Zhejiang Ouhua Shipbuilding Company will build the four vessels. The environment friendly equipment for the first vessel will be delivered in third quarter of 2008. In the fourth quarter of 2010 the equipment of the last vessel will be commissioned.
With this order Imtech enters the - for China strategically important - growing market segment of bigger (container) vessels.
