Finnish forest industry group Metsaliitto Group reported on Thursday (27 April) an operating profit of EUR82m on turnover of EUR2.36bn for the financial quarter January-March 2006.
Both operating profit and sales for the three-month period increased respectively from EUR74m and EUR2.19bn, as compared to the corresponding period in 2005.
Metsaliitto said that its subsidiary Finnforest reported an operating Profit of EUR14m on sales of EUR501m. Metsa-Tissue reported an operating profit of EUR5m on sales of EUR181m.
The parent company Metsaliitto Cooperative reported a three-month operating profit of EUR10.0m on sales of EUR323m, while Metsa-Botnia reported operating profit of EUR48m on sales of EUR316.
M-real reported an operating profit of EUR35m on sales of EUR1.44bn.
For seasonal reasons the Metsaliitto Group expected its financial result for the second quarter to fall short of the first quarter's level.
One euro (EUR) is worth approximately 0.69 British pounds (GBP).
