Finnish telecomms solutions provider Nokia said on Friday (28 April) that it had resolved its contract dispute over a patent licence agreement with InterDigital.
The dispute concerned the impact to Nokia of InterDigital's licences with Ericsson and Sony Ericsson.
Under the settlement agreements Nokia obtains a fully paid-up, perpetual, irrevocable licence to all of InterDigital's current patent portfolio, and any patents InterDigital may later acquire, for purposes of making or selling 2G products, including handsets and infrastructure.
The USD253m payment required under the settlement is in line with Nokia's earlier provisions, the company said.
One US dollar (USD) is worth approximately 0.56 British pounds (GBP).
