Finnish telecomms solutions provider Nokia said on Thursday (16 February) that it had started deliveries of the FOMA NM850iG 3G WCDMA smartphone to NTT DoCoMo Inc in Japan. Marketed as the FOMA NM850iG in NTT DoCoMo's line-up, the 3G WCDMA/GSM dual mode device is expected to be commercially available in Japan from 24 February. FOMA NM850iG is made for NTT DoCoMo with an additional i-mode function, Nokia said. Based on Symbian OS, FOMA NM850iG is a tri-band handset designed to work on 3G (WCDMA), EDGE and 2G (GSM 900/1800/1900) networks around the world.
