Statistics Norway, the Norwegian state statistics agency, said on Wednesday (13 September) that a total of 4.7 million square metres of utility floor space was started in Norway during January-July 2006, up by 5.9% from the corresponding period in 2005.
Of the total utility floor space 2.1 million square metres was started for dwellings and 1.9 million square metres for industrial purposes.
So far in 2006, building of 17,419 new dwellings is registered started, an increase of 4.9% compared with the corresponding period last year.
