Statistics Norway, the Norwegian state statistics agency, said on Wednesday (19 April) that Norwegian exports of goods amounted to NOK68.0bn in March 2006, up by 25.9% from March 2005.
At the same time the value of imports increased by 31.6% to NOK36.9bn, resulting in a trade surplus of NOK31.1bn in March 2006, up by 19.7% from March 2005.
Seasonally adjusted figures show a 1.7% increase in imports of goods, excluding ships and oil platforms, for the period January-March 2006, as compared with the previous three-month period.
One Norwegian krone (NOK) is worth approximately 0.08 British pounds (GBP).
