The Norwegian newspapers Bergens Tidende AS, Faedrelandsvennen AS, Stavanger Aftenblad ASA and Aftenposten AS said on Thursday (21 September) that they have signed a letter of intent to merge.
The parties plan to establish a new listed company, Media Norge ASA, in which the media group Schibsted ASA will be the largest shareholder with a 50.1% stake.
The merger will not affect the editorial independence of the newspapers, and is not expected to result in redundancies.
