Finnish minerals and metals processing technology group Outokumpu Technology Oyj reported on Friday (29 September) the receipt of an order in Brazil for a large iron ore pelletising plant.
Under the agreement with Mineracoes Brasileiras Reunidas (MBR), Outokumpu Technology will supply process equipment for a pelletising plant to be built in Nova Lima, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The order includes two complete equipment packages, one for a pellet indurating furnace and the other for a green pelletising system.
The value of the contract is said to be in excess of EUR110m.
The deal is a continuation to the engineering contract announced by the companies in March 2006, Outokumpu Technology said.
The plant is scheduled to become operational in mid-2008, producing 7 million tonnes iron ore pellets per year.
One euro (EUR) is worth approximately 0.67 British pounds (GBP).
