The Swedish steel group SSAB announced on Friday (21 April) that it has decided to invest SEK900m in expanding its capacity.
Some SEK700m of the expenditure is earmarked for the continued expansion of SSAB Oxelosund's quenched steel capacity in Sweden.
SSAB will also invest nearly SEK100m in a sheet centre in China and a further SEK100m in a new slag granulation plant, which will enable the operation of Oxelosund's two blast furnaces without holiday breaks.
One Swedish krona (SEK) is worth approximately 0.07 British pounds (GBP).
