The Swedish steel group SSAB issued its interim report for the first quarter on Friday (21 April), posting an operating profit of SEK1,557m, as compared to SEK1,804m in the first quarter of 2005.
The result was burdened by a 30% increase in coal costs.
Sales amounted to SEK7,622m, up from SEK7,060m in the first quarter last year.
One Swedish krona (SEK) is worth approximately 0.07 British pounds (GBP).
