The Norwegian oil company Statoil ASA said on Friday (7 April) that it has awarded Mokster Safety, part of Norwegian shipping company Simon Mokster Shipping, a letter of intent regarding the delivery of two standby vessels.

The agreement covers two vessels, one for replacing two vessels currently used for emergency response in the Tampen area in the North Sea, and one for use as a relief vessel in the Exploration & Production Norway pool.

The contract with Mokster Safety is valued at NOK1.6bn over an initial period of 10 years.

One Norwegian krone (NOK) is worth approximately 0.08 British pounds (GBP).
