Statistics Sweden, the Swedish state statistics agency, said on Monday (10 July) that, according to the activity index, the activity of the Swedish economy increased by 0.4% in May 2006, corresponding to an annual rate of 5.5%.
The increase can be explained by increased industrial production and a growth of sales in the retail trade, the agency said.
The seasonally adjusted index increased by 0.6% in May 2006, as compared to April 2006.
