Telenor uses aacPlus audio codec for mobile music service

Telecomworldwire-July 13, 2005-Telenor uses aacPlus audio codec for mobile music service

An aacPlus audio codec from Coding Technologies, an audio compression technologies provider, is reportedly to be used in Norwegian telecomms group Telenor ASA's mobile music download service. According to Coding Technologies aacPlus has been proven in several tests to offer the highest quality at lowest possible bit rates. The aacPlus has been selected for integration into the latest music player software from Groove Mobile, a mobile music download services provider, which built the platform for Telenor's service. Groove Mobile said that aacPlus would allow it to offer a broader music catalogue to its customers. Coding Technologies claimed that aacPlus would minimise network traffic and maximise customer satisfaction and help enable people to carry just one device with them to play any song at any time. Mobile music services, reported to be the main data revenue driver for 3G mobile networks, increase the average revenue per user, resulting in a substantial investment return for operators, Coding Technologies says.
