Finnish-Swedish telecomms group TeliaSonera AB said on Thursday (15 September) that its subsidiary TeliaSonera Network Sales had finished the build-out of a new municipality-wide broadband network for Skovde in Sweden. The new broadband network would provide service in virtually all areas of the municipality and give households and companies broadband speeds up to 24 Mbit/s. Eighteen telecom switching centres in the municipality have been upgraded with ADSL technology, which utilises the existing telephone network. Telecom switching centres in towns and communities in the municipality have also been interconnected in a network using fibre optic cable and radio links providing very high transmission speeds.
